Two weeks ago the Lake Roosevelt Forum, in partnership with the Washington State Department of Ecology, hosted a Student Discovery Day at Lake Roosevelt. This was the first Student Discovery Day after a program hiatus, and it was a success! Student Discovery Days offer outdoor education opportunities for local students and teachers to explore Lake Roosevelt’s watershed.
Junior high students from Summit Valley School rotated through educational stations along the beach at Cloverleaf Campground. Station activities included searching for and identifying aquatic macroinvertebrates, examining specimens provided by the Department of Ecology, participating in a lesson on water quality, and taking part in an animal adaptation game.
It was a great day at Lake Roosevelt, and the Lake Roosevelt Forum looks forward to collaborating on more Student Discovery Days for local students in the future. For more information on how your school or organization can participate in Student Discovery Days, email sophia@lrf.org.
