Fall is coming and so is the Lake Roosevelt Forum Conference, set for October 28 & 29 at the CenterPlace in Spokane Valley, WA. The Forum will convene a range of specialists from tribal, federal, state, and local agencies, in addition to community members and property owners.
Registration is open now. We will have an early bird rate available through September 26. With much appreciation for our generous sponsors, the Forum will also have scholarships available for students and community members.
Our theme this year is Reconnecting for the Future. That is, coming together again for the first time since COVID to:
- showcase and stimulate increased coordination around essential work being done to meet the unique and distinct needs of Lake Roosevelt,
- explore policy, technical, and public engagement dynamics taking us into the future,
- welcome new faces taking on this important work as the baton is handed from one generation to the next, and
- re-establish dialogue and facilitate the exchange of information with the hope of taking steps towards a collaborative future.
The agenda is currently under development, and we expect to make announcements highlighting featured speakers and sessions soon. In the meantime, participants can expect an energizing two days engaging with each other on local and regional approaches to a broad range of interconnected issues:
- Invasive species
- Columbia Plateau Regional Aquifer System
- Inland lakes management
- Agriculture, irrigation, and drought
- New developments in recreation, access, and promotion
- Water quality
- Hydropower
- Upper Columbia salmon reintroduction
- Toxics and remediation efforts
- Fisheries
- Transboundary perspectives
